Two Ways to Get to Feeder Manager
Monday, August 2, 2010 9:06 Posted by Hannah MoyerFeeder manager keeps track of the circuit to which a feature is connected (Feeder ID), the energized phase(s) of the feature (Feeder Info), the feature’s phase designation and voltage (Electric Trace Weight) and, in the case of multi-feeds, the second circuit to which the feature is connected (Feeder ID 2). Feeder Manager also tracks whether a feature is on a loop or island. You can get to Feeder Manager from the ArcFM Locator or the Selection menu.
If you use the ArcFM Locator, your search dialog will be called Feeder Manager Search Criteria. From the Selection menu it’s called Select by Feeder.
From the ArcFM Locator From the Selection menu
From the search dialog you can use the Search for: dropdown to search for all feeders, multiple feed feeders, feeders with loops, de-energized features, tie devices and terminal devices. From the Energized Phase(s) dropdown you can choose any combination of phases, and from the Substation dropdown you can choose a specific substation to search on. If you’re only interested in conductors, you can choose to locate lines only. Then you can just select those feeders that you’re looking for from the results pane and hit the Close or Apply button.
So far, everything you’ve seen is the same whether you got to the search dialog from the Selection menu or the ArcFM Locator. There are some differences, however. If you are working from the Locator, you can click the Options button to select the Group Results by Feeder or Sort Results options. If you choose Group Results by Feeder, your results will be sorted by feature type and feeder.
If you choose Sort Results, your results will be sorted by feature type and Object ID.
You also have the Options available for all Locator tools, including Auto Zoom to Results, Auto Add to Selection, Use Case Sensitive Search and Locate Threshold. You also have all of the locator right-click context menu options.
In the Select by Feeder dialog your results will be automatically selected and you can Auto Zoom to Selection by checking the box in the dialog. If you click the Options button, you will see that the options to Group Results by Feeder and Sort Results are grayed out. This is because they control how results are displayed in the tree of the Locator.
